Myofascial release is a non-invasive gentle hands-on soft tissue technique that works on the fascia to release restrictions.
To decrease pain and restore motion, working in an atmosphere of calm, the goal is to provide a healing environment and a new experience in treatment for the client. Relax recover remobilise with MFR tune into your body's connective tissue to becoming healthy. To aid in removing myofascial restrictions and explore the barriers to becoming healthy.
Fascia is made of three main components: collagen, elastin, and a polysaccharide gel complex which is referred to as the 'ground substance' in myofascial release. Collagen and elastin work together to create a web-like formation of strong and flexible fibrils. The ground substance fills in the spaces in this web, lubricating the fibrils and cushioning the organs. These three aspects work as a harmonious system that ensures healthy movement, support, and protection of all body systems.
*Your fascia system and your belief system are intimately linked:
example body posture can translate, look weighed down? troubled, unhappy ? posture and belief.

What is MLD?
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (or MLD) is a very gentle, relaxing body and face treatment, concentrating mainly on the Lymphatic System.
It is an incredibly light yet an effective massage technique that encourages stimulation of the Lymph System. Its rhythmical technique methodically massages the skin towards the natural direction of lymph flow. A one way only massage.
The name 'Manual Lymph Drainage' Not inviting as with the word drainage conjours up images of tubes and plumbing! However, being non-invasive, once you try this particular therapy, all your previous misconceptions will vanish.
What does the Lymphatic System do?
Put it simply, for it is a complex system which integrates with other bodily systems and functions:
• It consists of vessels, nodes and ducts and is the internal cleansing system for the whole body bringing the metabollic wastes and toxins plus
surplus fluid, fats and proteins back to the blood to be removed by the elimination organs (kidneys and urinary system). Humans have approximately 500-600 lymph nodes throughout the body.
They are arranged in chains or I like to think as a string of pearls or clusters found in the underarms, groin, neck, chest and abdomen.
The lymph passes through them on its way back to the bloodstream. There are about 200 nodes in the head and neck alone (you probably know of ones in the neck - they swell if you have a sore throat or other infection and most call them “glands”.
• It also functions as part of the immune system, to check out invaders and destroy them. Some cells, antibodies, live in the lymph nodes and multiply when they sense the presence of a bacterium or a virus that they are “programmed” to deal with thus protecting the body from a more widespread problem.
Other cells called 'T Lymphocytes' roam the blood and the lymph constantly and deal directly with anything that is not supposed to be there. This includes inflammation, trauma and injury. These cells rely on the flow of the lymphatic and circulatory systems to transport them around the body.
If the lymph system is sluggish, their job is considered thwarted.
Is your Lymphatic System sluggish?
If the Lymphatic System works well, we feel well. Anything less than that is often the result of congestion somewhere in the body which may or may not be outwardly apparent. Cells don't get their nutrients and oxygen because the connective tissue, through which lymphatic vessels pass, is congested. Waste products can't get away for the same reason.
MLD help.
MLD cleanses connective tissue by stimulating the lymph vessels to remove surplus waste. In fact, a treatment reaches up to 50% of the connective tissue accelerating the body's own healing powers. MLD accelerates the speed at which the body deals with 'lymph' by 100 times for many hours after treatment and that’s a benefit from 1 session of MLD!
The Treatment
MLD treatment starts at the neck where the main lymph ducts return their cargo to the venous system, thus clearing a 'space'. All other sections follow in sequence so that no congestion is moved without having somewhere to go. Congestion is moved by dry hands on dry skin, moving very slowly mainly in slow circles or spirals. MLD should not be painful and should not make the skin red. Treatment takes place with you lying comfortably on a couch. It is unlike other, traditional forms of massage - no deep tissue work or kneading are used as the aim is to stretch the superficial lymphatic vessels which lie just beneath the skin. No oils are used in the technique. You may need to remove some clothes but your modesty is well protected with strategic placement of large towels.
Everyone has different needs and each is treated accordingly. One person could have sinus issues, or another puffy ankles in pregnancy.
